AMA Pittsburgh Collegiate Marketing Plan Competition

2017 PPG Case Competition
This will be our fourth year where marketing faculty at participating universities work with student teams on a marketing plan case provided by the Pittsburgh AMA Higher Education Outreach committee. The work on the marketing plan can be as part of a course, club activity, or independent program.

Teams compete in up to three phases of judging. First, each team submits a written marketing plan report to be scored in the first round of judging. Second, each team develops a poster display of their marketing plan. The second round of judging will be held at Robert Morris University on April 7th. Judges combine their scores on the written marketing plan with their scoring of the posters on site to determine five finalist teams and up to five honorable mention teams. The third and last phase (also on April 7th) requires the five finalist teams to present their marketing plans to the panel of judges.

The resulting cumulative scores (plan, poster and presentation) determine the three award winning teams and prizes: $300 for First place, $200 for Second place and $100 for Third place. For additional information please contact

Monday January 16: Case released to student teams
Monday January 30: Teams submit questions for the first Q&A session to
Thursday February 2 at 4pm: Open Q&A #1 with PPG Architectural Coatings
Tuesday March 7: Teams submit questions for the Second Q&A to
Thursday March 9 at 4pm: Open Q&A #2 with PPG Architectural Coatings
Monday March 27: Final team plans due to
